Caterpillar, Chevron share losses contribute to Dow's 100-point drop

Dragged down by losses for shares of Caterpillar and Chevron, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Thursday afternoon. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, -5.49% and Chevron CVX, -4.30% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, +0.18% was most recently trading 105 points, or 0.3%, lower. Caterpillar’s shares are down $9.70 (5.2%) while those of Chevron have fallen $6.69, or 4.5%, combining for an approximately 108-point drag on the Dow. Boeing BA, -3.11%, American Express AXP, -2.50%, and JPMorgan Chase JPM, -2.11% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
